## ADIPEC 2025 - Presentation: A technical and economic assessment of new emerging chemical looping technology to produce blue hydrogen

![Luigi Crolla Headshot]()

Luigi Crolla, Group Manager Energy Transition Technologies

Tuesday 4 November, 11:30 GST

Luigi Crolla, Head of Energy Transition Technologies, will present on 'A technical and economic assessment of new emerging chemical looping technology to produce blue hydrogen' at ADIPEC 2025. With global demand for low-carbon hydrogen growing rapidly, Luigi will assess how chemical looping reforming (CLR) compares to solvent-based carbon capture processes at both 300MW and 1000MW scales. He will share new findings based on extensive in-house modelling and experimental data, demonstrating how CLR technology achieves superior hydrogen efficiency, near-total carbon capture, and lower energy penalties. Luigi will also explore the modular potential of CLR plants to replace industrial boilers and broaden applications in sectors such as blue ammonia and steelmaking, offering a scalable, resilient pathway for hydrogen production in the net zero transition.
