Early Japanese market concept designs including seismic assessments

Location: East China Sea, Japan 

Duration: 2019 - ongoing 

Kent has been commissioned to undertake three projects with a Japanese client to explore foundation options for sites in Japanese waters, and to develop concept options, giving an understanding of sizes, weights and installation methods.

Kent supported the client in overcoming certain issues and provided a range of services including:

- Interpretation of complex geotechnical and metocean data
- Foundation option review and selection
- Comparative studies of 3 and 4 leg jacket concepts
- Seismic assessment
- Review of drive drill drive (DDD) and drilled and grouted (DAG) pile installation methods.
- Literature review of project documents, site and metocean data
- Drive-drill-drive Feasibility Study
- Seismic Assessment Study
- 3 vs 4 Leg Comparative Study
- Conceptual Design Reports for multiple options of turbine size, water depth, soil conditions and installation methodology.
