One of the powerful stories we are honoured to share is from Matt Postles. Before joining Kent, Matt was hesitant to be open about his identity at work, fearing it might impact how his colleagues perceived him. Over time, however, Matt found the courage to proudly be himself at work. Today, Matt is a beacon of pride and inclusion at Kent, managing our presence at Pride events across the UK, speaking to the entire UK team on this important topic, and even becoming the reverse mentor of our CEO, John Gilley." **The courage to stay true to yourself** Prior to joining Kent, I didn’t necessarily plan to be out at work for fear of being perceived differently from my colleagues; I wanted to be judged only for my skills as an engineer. Thankfully, over the years, I have built up enough courage to be proudly myself at work, starting with small conversations with others from my graduate scheme who have since become close friends, to managing Kent’s presence at Pride events for the whole of the UK and speaking on this topic to the whole UK team. It’s still not always easy to deliver personal topics to a wide audience, but by doing so, I hope my experiences can contribute to everyone at Kent knowing they can be authentically themselves without fear of judgment.
