Waste Water Treatment Plant for a 35,000-person construction camp

#### **Kent was awarded to do the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for the modular Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) for a 35,000-man construction camp at Ras Laffan, Qatar. This included the process design, detailed engineering, procurement, shipping, construction, testing and commissioning of the mechanical, piping, civil, electrical and instrumentation scope.**

The WWTP plot is located 7 km from the camp area and includes five trains, each with a capacity of 2,464m3 per day.

The scope also includes the Waste Water Transfer System, which consists of a primary lift station, a booster station and underground HDPE pipes. The hydraulic design of the transfer system is complex as there is a requirement to cater for influent flows from the camp ranging from 1,050m3 to 2,100 m3 per hour. The Treated Sewage Effluent is of highest quality and will be pumped to an irrigation tank at the camp area where it will be utilized for the irrigation of the landscaped areas in the camp.

The project was logistically challenging with a tight execution schedule for the hydraulic system and the first WWT Train. The process design is the responsibility of Kent in conjunction with the technology supplier to meet the specified parameters for influent at the primary lift station and treated effluent at the irrigation tank.
